Where To Find Dickies Bags In Singapore
The fly 16 years later
Yesterday I received an email signed by Lola Robles (who know), also filled with joy to see me two important things that are not necessarily professionals or experts in matters Lyrics are more aware, and that there are people who despite having some sensory difficulties and will have a tenacity that leads them to ports where others, who enjoy full power and good compasses, fail. From here, Hansel and I thank you infinitely for your generosity and his dedication to literature and that has made us aware that we have a book that talks!
I would send you a review of "Lullaby for a house fly" in my blog
(Córdoba. Argentina, 1949. Reside years in Spain)
Lullaby for a housefly . Madrid, ONCE, 1995. Tiflos Story Award 1994.
The stories in this book are: Milled, Nereids, Aircraft, The Guardian of Dreams; ewer with swans Agadhir, Samarkand, The Dictionary secret Jasper; The word Scolopendra morsitans, Diary of a taxidermist; Song cradle for a housefly.
occasion of one of the entries in this blog (referring to the publication by the journal Insula, a number special dedicated The fantastic in Spain (1980-2010
), I received this comment (referring to the magazine) in which the writer spoke Norberto Luis Romero:
"Curious. In all the talk about fantasy literature from 80 to this part does not mention even one of the many books Norberto L. Romero. However, in interviews it is mentioned as a major grower of the genre. "lack of rigor?," Ignorance? ", the authors know. "
take this opportunity to thank these comments, I provide information about authors that I do not know or only know its name. I want to comment also that due to a disability, low vision, "I have, I find it very difficult to read paper books, so can not read much as I want. However, thanks to the curiosity that was the message I received on my blog, I discovered there was a work of Norberto Luis Romero in the catalog of audio books from the Library of ONCE, for which I am user. This is the story collection Lullaby for a housefly , awarded in addition to the 9 th Tiflos Story Award (1994), awarded by the ONCE (English National Blind Organization). I heard (too often say "I read" by force of habit) the book, and for me it was a pleasant surprise.
Romero's stories seem to me excellent, flexible and yet very elaborate and artful without being at all (something that sometimes happens when writers have less experience or occupation: they note the device), varied in theme, with humor and drama, in a great tradition of writers like Borges, Cortazar ... we have a border between reality and fantasy that is flexible, permeable, a highly cultivated literary tradition, with many references to literature itself precisely with sometimes a strong symbolism. I regret not
have known before Romero's narrative and I hope this is not the only book that you can hear it.
I then comment briefly on each of the tales included in the book. The end will link two of them (very good, the best in the collection), which are posted online.
"Milled
" text is a very fun and makes us reflect on the good and bad literature. "
Nereids. Tale of sirens, of course evil, but so seductive and powerful ... "
Aircraft is a shocking I have clear political background of the disappeared in Argentina, but may apply at any time and place of humans in situations of violence and repression, oppression, we refuse to see reality (especially when we believe that only affects other .) One of the best stories in the book. "
ewer with swans." This is also for me, one of the best stories in this collection. Story about dreams, obsessions, the issue twice, about desire, love, life and death, fate, in a game of mirrors and very elaborate and full reasons fantastic. Two stories about cities "
Agadhir
" and "Samarkand " can be read as texts clever or very symbolic fantasies. It's good to exercise your brain with the latter, just gives us something about our reality, past or present. Both "
The word" as "secret dictionary" as well as talk about destiny and fate, addressed an issue that was very dear to Borges, and that appears in many esoteric traditions, to date, for now the matter has been taken up by the new pseudo-religion, religion and spirituality flows several, or even psychological therapies and methods of growth personnel, etc. The theme is the power of the word when pronounced. Certainly the idea that words can change reality is found in all religions, and that is the foundation of prayer, invocation and also magic. Anyway, I'm not expert in these matters, so I would appreciate any input. In "
Jasper, a stone, a ring that gives its wearer unlimited power raises us to reflect on slavery that entails that power. "
The keeper of dreams
" speaks on the subject, dreams. An interesting story, but for me not the best, because it is so trite a subject that is difficult to be original. "Scolopendra morsitans
" and " Lullaby for a tamed fly acoustic" are two tales of humor and satire on marriage and animals. These topics appear in the book: the fears, obsessions ... The parody is delicate, sometimes tender, sometimes a little sharp.
"Diary of a taxidermist
" is a story of everyday monsters, which reminds me of characters created by the Gothic writer Pilar Pedraza. Subsisting that certain tenderness that is also in "Lullaby for a fly home "and indicates that the author sees his creatures with eyes funny, ironic, but also very human. In fact, what this story tells us (in my humble opinion, of course) is that we are all monsters, though we believe, as the narrator of the story, than are the other, the deformed or marginalized.
